Jeffree Star Summer Chrome Collection Reviewed!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics is a brand I am always keeping up with because, from what I have tried, the products are great and I definitely did want to expand my collection so when I saw his new summer chrome collection, I knew I had to try some. Thanks to my fab parents for buying me these as part of my birthday present and today I will be reviewing them because currently you can still buy them and they are in stock. I got products I knew I would wear but I have got three completely different products and formulas to share with you today so I hope you enjoy.
I will be reviewing each product individually but I am just going to talk a little bit about the collection as a whole. This collection is summer exclusive and as you can see, all of the packaging is in this sort of rose tinted, metallic packaging with hot pink writing which I love, it is super cool and a great change from his traditional packaging. In this collection there were 2 Skin Frosts, 3 Lip Scrubs, 5 Lip Ammunitions and 8 Velour Liquid Lipsticks. I managed to get a Skin Frost, a Lip Ammunition and A Velour Liquid Lipstick. If you live in the UK like myself, you can get these from Beauty Bay and the links where I bought them from are at the end of this post as always.
With packaging, I did want to cover something about it, if like me you have some of JSC's original collection,  you might realise that it's packaging is not the most secure, it works but in comparison to this packaging it is not sturdy at all. This summer chrome collection has such a strong lock on it and is so secure opening or closing the products.
Skin Frost in Crystal Ball
I am just going to be reviewing the products individually just as a little first impression sort of thing. Anyway this highlighter is a pale icy white but in some lights it has a pink shift to it. I think this is the first almost duo chrome highlighter JSC have ever done.
After using it a few times, I have realised that it works better on a more dense highlighter brush, on a fluffy highlighter brush, it only picks up the chunks of glitter. The texture is definitely still that rough texture that does swatch great but on the face it looks so different. I find this product to be quite hit and miss, sometimes it looks super chunky on the skin and sometimes it looks amazing. The pigment is definitely there and the shade is beautiful but the amount of shimmer in it is a lot so this is for people who like an intense highlight. I really love the colour of this though, it is great for fair skinned people and the shift of pink in it looks super beautiful on the skin, but just be warned apply it with the wrong brush, and it can be super chunky.
I will say after trying out my second Skin Frost, I will not be buying anymore just because the two I have tried have not been as promising as what I had thought. That's not saying they are bad but after seeing Jeffree use them in his videos, they didn't play out how I thought they would.
Velour Liquid Lipstick in Butt Naked
This was actually the first velour Liquid Lipstick I had ever tried from JSC but I was quite impressed. The shade itself is a beautiful milky peach, is is definitely wearable but it is still something a little different from a typical nude shade. I was a little scared since I thought that this shade wouldn't flatter me but it really does.
For the formula, it was really impressive, it went on super pigmented but lightweight, it dried down quickly and it was super easy to apply. I don't think I would ever wear it without a lip liner but that's just because I know what I am like when applying lip products. The finish is definitely super matte but it does not dry out your lips at all and it is a comfortable matte so all is good. Its lasting powder is pretty good, obviously it won't stay when eating greasy food or drinking drinks without a straw but it has the potential to last a really long time.
I am super impressed with this lip product, sadly the rest of the summer chrome collection don't look very my style, but I think I will be looking into getting some more liquid lipsticks maybe from his permanent collection as they are super lovely.
Lip Ammunition in Skin Tight
From what I have tried, I have really loved the lip ammunitions in the past but I was super happy that he has released some more nude shades in this summer collection. A cool touch that was added to this collection was the fact that some of the lipsticks smell like watermelon and it is amazing. It is a very fake and sweet scent but I kind of like it, and even if you didn't, don't worry, because on the lips you cannot smell it.
The colour of this is actually quite a bright, medium pink shade which I was not expecting as on the website it looked like a pale pink nude but never mind. I do like the shade but I think that it is a little harder to wear but hopefully I can find a way to wear it.
For formula, when I applied it on my lips it was super pigmented and it felt really lightweight. The finish is quite a natural matte but it is so comfortable and creamy feeling. I am super impressed with the formula, they last a good amount of time and they are super comfortable but it is the shade that I am slightly disappointed with.
Swatches left to right, Skin Tight, Butt Naked (not dried), Crystal Ball
To give a little summary, I do like this collection but it didn't wow me as much as I would have liked it to. My favourite product is definitely the Velour Liquid Lipstick but the Lip Ammunition is a great formula but I would suggest you look at swatches though because the shade did disappoint me. For the highlighter, it did not wow me at all, it is pretty but I can't see it being something I use everyday or all that often so I would not recommend it especially for the price.

Do you like the look of this collection?
Grace xx

  2. I'm surprised that you didn't enjoy the skin frost. Maybe it's worth a go trying something from his permanent range. Ice Cold is one that everyone loves and I think the pigment in the permanent range is far better. xx Nikita
