It has been a while... just an update

(my incedible friend took this picture, her insta is @izzykxte, send her your love)

It almost felt weird opening up Blogger and clicking "new post" because it feels like I have forgotten what is like to be a blogger. A bit dramatic I guess as I am writing a blog post right now but it really has been a while since writing a post for me, but the longer I was leaving it, the harder it became trying to get the words out.
I just wanted to write a little update post today because there has been a lot going on in my life and some changes I want to make in the future, so I am sorry that this is no wishlist or makeup look but hopefully this will explain some unanswered questions.
2018 has started off pretty hectic for me and I think most people can say the same, but I really didn't anticipate how busy I would be. I have made it pretty clear, hopefully, that I am in my final year of high school and so this is when the hardwork really starts to kick in so it's all about getting me through until July as that is when I will be done with GCSEs! What I didn't expect though, is for my brain to run on a constant, school only mindset and becuase of this my blog has suffered massively. Recently I have been critised a lot by the people closest to me about the fact that all I do is school work and revise, and maybe I didn't see it, but it has been taking up most of my time. Saying that, I have been waiting to sit these exams since I started my eductaion at the age of 4 and now I am finally here, I want to do thm properly. It has came to my attention recently, that I definitely put too much on my plate and I am care too much about the things that don't really mean anything and as much as people want to change that about me, I don't want to change that side of me. My motivation and drive is something I am proud of and I hope I never loose it.
With all of that being said, I am trying to find a balance between work and lesuire, something I am only really just learning now. Majoirty of my time will still be put towards my education and passing my exams but I also don't want my blog to take a huge back seat while I do that. I am not promising that there will be a post every week of there will be a set schedule because that pressure is something I could really do without but I do want new content on my blog fairly often.
Speaking of content, I am really struggling with that side of my blog at the moment, which you could say is also why I haven't posted. Since I first started my blog, it has primarily been based around beauty and makeup, as much as I love beauty and all that it has done for me, I want my blog to be more than just makeup. Then again, I don't want to dissapoint anyone who comes onto my blog for the beauty tips and makeup reviews so I really need you guys to help me out. Nothing is set in stone yet, but I would like to do more fashion posts, like styling tips and OOTDs, also a little bit of health and fitness as that is also a growing passion of mine. As much as I do want to make my blog an all round blog, I don't know what any of you would want to see from me, so I would really appriciate it if you could comment on this post, or message me what your thoughts are on what I have just said. Currently I feel like I can't write a book review because it should be a makeup review but I don't know whether it is all just in my head. I am not thinking of not posting beauty posts ever again but as I am in exam season and my final year of high school, makeup looks are not on the ageda but revsion is and I don't know whether it would benefit anyone if I made blog posts all about education and exams.

I massively appologise for the state of this post but I just wanted to get something up to prove I am still here!
Have a great week!
Grace xx

  1. I could've written this exact post yesterday. I wrote my first blog post in five months yesterday, and when you said the longer you went, the harder it was to come up with the words, I could so relate. I went through so many ideas of how I was going to make my comeback--I didn't know whether to explain why I'd been away, or just come back to it. I chose with relaunching my blog by making a few differences instead, but I really appreciate the way you've done it.
I love that you've asked for other people's opinions about the kind of content they'd like to see, too. It's really important to make sure you're posting about things your readers will be interesting, but also things that you will enjoy writing, or you'll become bogged down with the blog again pretty quickly--especially when trying to do your GCSE's at the same time! Personally, I love reading posts with a variety of different topics, so if your interests have changed, I'd love to read posts about other things you're passionate about. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, though, and I hope your GCSE results are as positive as you'd hoped they would be!

  2. I understand how difficult it is to write a blogpost after coming back from taking a break, even after a week or two of not posting I struggle writing again. I think it'd be good to write about other things if you want to. I want to write about other things other than beauty also and sometimes its good to change things up. I wish you the best of luck on your exams! xx
