Benefit Balms | Hot or Not Wednesday

Hi everyone,
Today's post is bringing it back to a series I started last year. It is Hot or not Wednesday! As it's a new year I think I am going to do a hot or not every other week, on Wednesday of coarse. So make sure you fill the comments with what I should review next. If you are unaware of a hot or not, it is basically a mini review on high street or high end makeup products. Today I will be reviews the Benefit lip balms, and I hope that you enjoy!
Price:
These individually retail for £14.50, which for a high end lip product, I find reasonable. I was lucky enough to receive these in a gift set which cost £19 for the two, so if you are willing to wait, maybe wait until the Christmas gift sets from Benefit come out. I was a bit disappointed in the amount you get in it but then again, you don't need a lot of product.

First impression:
Honestly, I wasn't expecting a lot from these as they are not that hyped up about. Now that I have tried them, I am not sure why they are not hyped up about. I found the first application of both of them very creamy and glossy. The pigmentation was more than what I expected and overall I was super impressed.

Packaging:
As all Benefit products, these are super lovely to look at. I love the metallic look to them and the colours are bright and girly. This is a very well made product so I know it will not break or smash.

How do you use it? And what does it do?
This acts as a lip balm and sort of a gloss as well. It gives a slight tint also and is said to give a longer lasting colour if you pair it with the same shade tint.

Which are my favourites?
My favorite at the moment is posie balm as it is the perfect colour for spring. Saying that, I think Bene Balm would be great for the autumn, so the shades are wearable but for different times of the year.

What are the negatives?
- Amount of products you receive
- Not the most long lasting

What are the positives?
- Super creamy
- Very moisturizing
- Good tint to the lips

Would I recommend it? And to who?
I would not recommend this for someone on a budget, but if you are into natural and fresh looking makeup, I think you would like them. If you do suffer with super dry lips and some lip products are not wearable because the cling to dry patches, this might be a good alternative if you still want a bit of colour

Hot or Not?
Hot! I love these products and they have been a daily essential for me since I received them.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what I should review next and whether this is something you would want to see regularly. Have a great day!

Best Makeup Products of 2015

(I apologize for the awful pictures, the weather was not on my side)
Hi everyone,
As another year has gone past, today I thought I would share with you the best beauty products of 2015. 2015 for me has been a year of experimenting with all things beauty. I have spent a lot of 2015 trying, testing and just experimenting with makeup and beauty. I hope you enjoy this post!

Makeup:
During 2015, I discovered makeup in general. I have learnt so much and have found products that really enhance my skin. All of the products are drugstore because I have only been able to invest in high end very recently, so I couldn't include the products.

MUA Pro Base Primer  - I bought this at the very start and has lasted me ages. It was super cheap and I could honestly notice a different in staying power. I would highly recommend this and has definitely been a staple for me in 2015.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer - I discovered this in late spring in 2015 and has been a daily staple for me since. This has been one of them products I just can't manage without. I am on my second tube of this because I have used it so much. This has helped brighten my under eyes, which is what I needed and it helped me look wide awake, even if I wasn't.
Natural Collection Concealer - Again this is a products I couldn't live without. I am on my second tube of this also and it has been a huge staple for me. I have not seen a lot of people rave about this but I think it deserves more hype. It is so affordable and gives a natural finish. It is great for beginners and that's what I needed during 2015.
Collection Speedy Blush in Cheeky - As my skin doesn't suit pink blush all that much, I wanted to try a more coral toned blush. Since I only ever owned a powder blush, I never new what a cream blush was like, so this products seemed like the perfect one to try. Since trying this I have never used a powder blush. This is my ideal blush shade and formula.
Maybelline Colours Tattoos - Believe it or not, eye shadow was probably one of the first makeup products I ever started wearing. I am not to sure why but I since watching youtube I have always been intrigued to these products. After trying them I could believe the hype. I only own the neutral colours but they have been a big stand out for me this year. They last a long time and make a great quick and easy look.
MUA Eyeliner in Snow White - I have always preferred white eyeliner over black and this was my first white liner. As you can see by the picture it is almost all gone. This has been part of my daily makeup routine since the beginning of 2015. Only recently I have discovered others, but I was happy sticking to this product without having to try anything else.
Brow Gel - I have never been one to fill in my eyebrows as I like the way mine look without it. Saying that, sometimes they fall out of place and look  bit of a mess so to tame that I bought a brow gel. This has made a huge impact on my makeup as I feel like it completes each look.
Collection Divine Lash - I do know that this has been a very recent release but I did have to give it a little mention. This is the perfect dupe for Benefits They're Real Mascara. The wands are very similar but I do find Divine lash is a lot more natural. I bought this mascara because I wanted something very natural for school that just held the curl of my eyelashes all day. This did exactly that.
Revlon Lash Potion - I tried this a while back and I have always been a huge fan of it. It does a great job at lengthening and thickening lashes. I have also found it's helped grow my lashes naturally, which is something not every mascara can offer.
Tanya Burr Lip gloss in Sparkling Dewdrops - This was my second Tanya Burr gloss but my first one was just peachy which I didn't like. This shade was a lot more my colour and was a huge staple for me through summer and spring. Obviously with the changing seasons I started using this less, but it was a product I always came back to.
MUA LUXE Lip Lacquer in Tranquility - This was sent to me in September, so again a recent purchase, but I have had so much wear out of it. This is the most long lasting lip product I own. It is super matte without being drying and it is a beautiful colour.
MUA Intense Lip Liners - I discovered these when I was in a show and I needed a red lip shade. With it only being for a few performances I didn't want to spend loads, so I chose a lip liner from MUA. Turns out, they are super easy to apply and last a long time paired with a lip gloss.
The Body Shop Honeymania Lip Balm - I got this in their advent calendar in 2014 and I was never a huge fan of their born lippys or their lip butters and I jut thought that this was going to be the same. After hiding it at the back of my draw for a while, I pulled it back out and haven't stopped using it since. The consistency is a lot thicker and nourishing than the other formulas.
EOS Lip Balms - On a regular basis I use The Body Shop lip balm of a night and an EOS during the day. These are super cute and really moisturizing. There is no scent or flavor in particular that has stud out this year, but I love the formula very much.

Makeup Brushes:
Real Techniques Face Brushes - I discovered Real Techniques in the summer of 2015 and honestly, I don't know what I would do without them. Their face brushes have been a huge help to my application of my makeup. Favorite brushes are expert face brush, buffing brush and contour brush. They are all super soft and are super easy to clean.
Primark Eye Brushes - I have always loved Primark for clothes, shoe, accessories and now beauty. The double ended concealer and eye shadow brush has been a huge standout. I like to use this for cream and powder shadows or below the lash line.
Primark Eyelash Curlers - If I had to say one product that has been my favorite during 2015, it is this (big statement, I know). This is honestly outstanding and I can't rave about it enough. It curls my lashes like no other and they hold with the help of some waterproof mascara.

Nails:
Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints - You are all probably sick and tired of me talking about these but they just had to be mentioned. I am not going to go on for too long but some stand-out shades were lychee (on featured in image), Grapefruit, Prickly Pear and Papaya.
Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paints - Barry M released these during spring in 2015 and I had to try they. They were super opaque and fast-drying. I love Barry M Nail Polishes and these just added to my collection.
Barry M Top and Base Coat - As you can see by the obvious pattern, I do love Barry M nail polishes. During the start of the year, I realized I needed something to make my polishes last longer on my nails, so I bought this. I have never used anything else and I have noticed a massive difference.
At the beginning of 2015, I did a Barry M review if you want to read for more detail, link here.

I'm sorry this post was super long but I still hope you enjoyed. Let me know some of your favorite products of 2015 in the comments. Have a great day!

New Years Eve Sparkle and Shimmer

Hi everyone,
I just want to say I hope you have all had a lovely year and you  are looking forward to 2016 just as much as I am. I know I am a bit late on the new year sort of posts but this following week will be packed full of 2015 favorites and 2016 events. Today, as it is New Years Eve, I thought I would share with you some eye shadows that are perfect for the long night ahead. All are drugstore and are super affordable, Enjoy.

Rimmel Quad in Sun Safari
This is one of the more neutral looks but all four shadows are extremely shimmery and creamy. I comes with the perfect shades to create a brown smoky eye, maybe if you use a matte brown with this quad.

Freedom Eye Shadow in Brights 230
This is a super bright single shadow for all the adventurous people. It is a mid purple with blue glittery undertones. This would look amazing on the lower lash line or on the outer lid blended well.

Technic Eye Shimmer Palette in Set 1
This is great for on the go as it comes with a great mirror and all the shadows are cream so no brushes are needed. There are some bright shades and some neutral. All the colours work really nicely together and will last the whole night.

MUA Luxe palette in Plush Plum and Copper
This is a really versatile palette as there an brights and neutrals. Even thought there are brights they neutrals included really complement them. I would highly recommend this palette as it is super affordable and has amazing quality for the price.

Home Bargains Eye Shadow (Comes in a trio)
Ages ago I did a review on these shadows and honestly, I don't wear these enough. They are incredible and would look amazing for the new year. Review is linked here.

I hope that this post has came to some use. Let me know what you are doing on New Years Eve and look forward to all new posts coming very soon. Have a great day!

Freedom Review!

Hi everyone,
Today's post I have been planning for what feels like forever. In September I won a giveaway with Freedom that consisted of £50 worth of there makeup. Which means today's post is going to be a review on Freedom! I have spent the last month or so testing these products out and there are definitely some gems in this brand. You may have also seen lots of these products mentioned in my previous posts so I am not going to go into much detail, but enough so you get a good idea. This is not sponsored and all these opinions are my own.

Freedom is a brand new to Superdrug and is very comparable to Makeup Revolution. There products are very affordable but giving a great quality at the same time.

Product 1 - Pro 32 Eye Collection in Innocent Collection - £8
(Images 1&2)
This is my new current favorite palette, it comes with mattes, shimmers and glitters all very pigmented. It has warm, cool and neutral shades that are great if your starting out with eye shadow. They are all so gorgeous, blend easily, pigmentation is great and is just such a great palette. It is also super inexpensive so great on a budget and because it has a mirror it works great for travelling.

Product 2 - Pro 12 in Secret Rose - £4
(Images 3&4)
This palette is very autumnal in my opinion. It comes with six mattes and six shimmers all with great pigmentation. I personally love the shades in this palette as it can create so many neutral looks. The eye shadows have the same qualities as the first one but they are slightly bigger in quantity. It does come with one of them padded brushes which personally I don't like but might come in handy. This tends to stay near the back of my makeup collection just because it doesn't have a mirror, but I still love it. This was also featured in one of my most recent post (linked here).

Product 3 - Pro Blush Palette in Peach and Baked - £6
(Image 5)
Lets get the bad part out the way first. As soon as I had opened this palette for the first time, the insert, with all the blushes in, just fell out. I must have been given a faulty one, so if you do want to buy this, just check that the insert stays in and doesn't fall out like mine. On a daily basis, I do reach for cream blushes over powder blushes. Never the less, this palette comes with a great range of shades all very warm toned. This palette includes 6 blushes, all with shimmer and two highlighters. The highlighters are super lovely and wearable but when I wear a blush, I would rather it be matte. I will still wear the shades out of this palette as they are super pigmented and bendable. It is so well priced for only £6 and it comes with a mirror, which you all probably know is an added bonus for me.

Products 4,5,6 and 7 - Pro Lipsticks - £1 each
(Images 6,7,8&9)
Shades left to right - Adorn, Red Wine, Juicy Lips and Space Luxe
Before this, I barely had any nice lipsticks but now I have these beauties. They remind me a lot of the MUA lipsticks because of their packaging and prices but I do think Freedom have some more obscure shades. My favorite one at the moment is Adorn, which is a lovely for this time of year. It is a berry shade with golden shimmer, which I find really complements my skin tone. There packaging is really simple but I like that the bottom of the lipstick opens into a lip gloss, much like the MUA lipsticks. For £1 the pigmentation is great, the colour range is great and these would be perfect for any beauty addict or beginner that would like to extend their collection.

Products 8,9,10 and 11 - Pro Butter/Melt Lip glosses - £3 each
(Images 10,11&12)
Shades left to right - Cat Whiskers, Sugar fix, (both Pro Butter Lip glosses) Wanted and TGIF (both Pro Melt Lip glosses)
These are really lovely! The Pro Butters are a more sheer, on the go, moisturizing, everyday sort of lip product, and the Pro Melts are more pigmented, thick  liquid lipsticks. I love the formulations of them both but I think the Pro Butters are more suited to me as they are just so easy to apply and are really wearable colours. Saying that I really love the shade range these lip glosses have to offer. My favorite thing about these lip glosses is that they are the only ones I have found that are not sticky. I don't know how Freedom have done it, but they have created a none sticky lip gloss, which is why I am giving this product a massive thumbs up. For £3 these are so worth the money and I think there would be a shade for everyone. I would highly recommend these lip glosses.

Product 12 - Pro Mattify Primer - £5
(Image 13)
Since it is winter, I haven't been using this much, as I like to use a more hydrating primer in the colder seasons. Saying that I have been using this for parties, Halloween and it was in my Dubai makeup bag (which you can read here). This applies really nicely, makes my skin feels smooth but giving a matte finish. This does good a job at taking away some of the access shine and making my makeup last longer. I will have to be repurchasing this as it is so affordable and does the job.

Product 13 - Pro Highlight in Glow - £3
(Images 13,14 and 15)
Honestly, I am not a fan of this product. I hate saying that because it is one of the only products I just can't work with. My first impressions was that it was crazy pigmented was a lovely golden highlighter. As soon as I applied it to my face it just looked like super chunky glitter, it didn't really sit nicely on my face and it just would blend. For £3 I think it is a really gorgeous product looks wise, but not a very good product itself. If you are into a really bold, glittery highlighter, then this may be for you, but I much prefer the ones in the blush palette.

Product 14 - Pressed Powder in Translucent - £2
(Images 13 and 15)
As my Rimmel powder had broke, this was a lucky replacement. I really like this powder, I have been using this daily and I am enjoying it very much. For £2 I think it is brilliant. I really like that whichever brush I use, it picks up a lot of product which I find really rare in a translucent powder. This doesn't give a matte finish but it does set my makeup in place.

Product 15 - Long Lengthen Mascara - £2
(Image 16)
I hate saying this, but again I don't like this. For £2 I wasn't expecting much, but all it did was stick my lashes together. The formula was really sticky, the wand is not very good and it did nothing but bad things to my lashes. I'm sorry, but I really would not recommend this product.

Product 16 - Mono Eye Shadow in Brights 230 - £1
(Image 17)
This again, like the lipsticks, are a lot like MUA's eye shadows. This is a lovely mid-purple with blue, glittery undertones. I am a neutrals girl when it comes to eyes, but I would use this if I am ever feeling adventurous. The pigmentation is really nice, the colour range is really nice and it is super affordable.

Product 17 - Pro Studio Fixing Spray - £5
(Image 18)
I have never tried a product like this before. I use this to set my makeup or to make my eye shadows more pigmented. It does a great job at both of these and I think it would be comparable to the Mac fix plus and the Urban Decay setting sprays. When you set your makeup with this it does make your makeup quit dewy, s this would be great if you have dry skin. As mine is more oily I prefer using this for my eye shadows. Never the less it was a really great product to try.

I really hope you enjoyed this post as I have worked really hard on it. There will be another post tomorrow as it is a very special day and then that's it until Blogmas. Have a great day!

The Best 2 Drugstore Eye Shadow Palettes For Autumn

Hi everyone,

As you can tell by the title, today's post I am going to be sharing with you two palettes that I think are perfect for autumn/winter. Both are super affordable and can make so many great looks. I hope you enjoy!

First palette is the MUA LUXE Paradise, Plush plum and copper, 10 shade palette. This retails for £8, for 10 shadows, a huge mirror and super sleek packaging. All these shades are super shimmery and glittery and come in a huge range of colours. As you can see by the pictures, it has great pigmentation and the blend-ability is also really good for such affordable eye shadows. The packaging reminds me of something from Bobbie Brown but it is so much cheaper, as it is super condensed, simple and sophisticated like Bobbie Brown. The eye shadows almost looked baked but there are lots of pinks and gold/copper shades. I really like the maroon shade on the end, and the white with pink glitters on the other end.
This palette is great if you are travelling as it is super compact, but also if you don't like the simple colours but don't like to be too bold at the same time because it comes with a great variety.

The second palette is the Freedom Pro 12 in Secret Rose. This costs £4, I repeat £4!!! This was mentioned in my Freedom post (linked here) so I won't talk about it too long. Never the less I love this palette. It comes with 12 shades, mattes and shimmers, and a double ended sponge applicator "thing". This is so worth the money, the only thing it's missing is a mirror, but for £4 you cannot complain.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you have tried either of these products and whether you will. Have a great day!

Autumn/Winter Lip Picks

Hi everyone,
Today's post, I am going to be sharing with you my lip picks for this time of season.

Swatches left to right:

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in Iced Caramel : Super pigmented, glossy and long lasting dark brown/nude shade. I like this for daily use. Even though it is a brown in does have a blush pink tone to it.

Revlon Matte Balm in Elusive : This is my most recent lip purchase and I love it. It is a mid-pink shade that is very pigmented but I apply a lip balm first which sheers out the colour. It is so amazing and does not dry out my lips even though it is matte.

Rimmel Rita Ora Colour Rush in Not an Illusion : A lip product like this could be used for almost anything. It applies like a lip balm but adds colour like a lipstick and the gloss of a lip gloss. This is a dark red/nude shade which is great for this time of year.

Freedom Pro Lipstick in Adorn : This is the darkest shade I have included as I am not a dark lipstick person but if I was feeling risky, this is the lipstick I would wear. It is just a dark, berry, purple with glittery undertones. I love this lipstick, they are super affordable and are really comparable to MUA lipsticks.

MUA LUXE Lip Lacquer in Tranquility : A velvet teddy dupe is the way I would describe this. They are very similar but are opposite in price. I do think that this is a bit darker than velvet teddy but still very similar. MUA do honestly make great formulations of lip lacquers. This is my favorite shade and I love it. It lasts a long time, super pigmented and not drying. It does take that little bit longer to apply but I don't mind that.

Oriflame Gloss Booster in Sugar Glaze : You can't really see the swatch of it as it is a clear gloss but it could add so much to a dull lip colour. This is one of my all time favorite lip glosses and It is a definite essential for the winter.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Comment your must have lip product this winter. Have a great day!

Halloween 2015

Hi everyone,
I know this post is a little late but I still really wanted to do it. This is a colab with one of my best friends Caitlin (from Hello Caitlin - blog linked here). Me, Caitlin and a few other friends spent Halloween together so I thought I would share my costume, hair and makeup look.

Picture 1 - Me and my friends (from left to right), me, Ella, Caitlin and Lauren.
Picture 2 - My hair and makeup
Picture 3 - Me and Caitlin
Picture 4 - My makeup essentials for the cat makeup look.

For Halloween, I went as a cat. My costume just consisted of all black clothes. My long sleeve, black velvet crop top was from H&M, my jeans were the Topshop Joni black ripped jeans and my boots were black Chelsea boots from river island. The jacket I wore was just a leather jacket from Miss Selfridge.

When I figured out I was going to be a cat for Halloween, I just couldn't find a nice pair of cat ears, so on the day I had to improvise. One of my friends at dance told me I should make it out of my own hair, and that's what I did. I gave myself a middle parting, grabbed a small section from each side and braided it, bent it over to make them look like ears and I just pinned it. To cover the bobby pins, I just grabbed a piece of hair bordering my face from each side and pulled it to the back of my head, covering the bobby pin. Finished it off with a bit of hairspray and it works amazingly.

My makeup was very dramatic, in the last picture are a few products that made this whole look complete. I did my normal base routine of primer, foundation, concealer, blush and powder but I also added some contour and highlight to make my face look a lot more defined. For my eyes, I took the Freedom Innocent 32 colour eye shadow palette, but the make the shadows bolder, I took the Pro-fixing spray also by Freedom, and sprayed my eye shadow brush to make the shimmery colours more pigmented. For my eye look I took the shade Simplicity (shimmery, light, silver, blue shade) in my inner corner, the shade Justice (shimmery,grey/silver shade) all over the lid, and the shade Take Me (shimmery, navy, silver shade) in my crease and lower lash line. You obviously can't be a cat without a cat flick, so I did a very bold one with the Collection Extreme 24 hour liquid liner. I then drew three dots on each side of my cupids bow with The Body Shop black coal liner and with the same liquid liner, drew little "whisker like" flicks. On the tip of my nose, with the same liquid liner I drew a little heart nose. For my lips, I lined them with the same coal liner and filled it in with the MUA LUXE Velvet liq lacquer in Potency, but to make it a bit more colorful I added a bit of red lipstick to give a really dark purpleish colour.

A few days before, I also painted my nails with the Barry M gelly hi-shine nail paint in Plum.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Don't forget the read Caitlin's post! Have a great day!

Halloween DIY's: Drinks, Makeup Look and Room Decor

 Hi everyone,
You can probably tell from the images above that this is not my typical beauty post today. Recently, I have noticed that all I seem to share on my blog is beauty and makeup so I want to switch it up a little bit (if you don't mind) starting with this post. Today's post is a colab with the lovely Bobo from Meet Me in Melford (link to blog here). She has a amazing blog and deserves so many more followers. Her DIY's are amazing and personally no one can top her creativity for me. I am not the best at DIY's so I'm sorry if these don't reach your standard but hopefully you get some inspiration from them. I tried to make these DIY's different so different people can use them, whether you are celebrating Halloween by dressing up with others or throwing yourself a pamper night. All of these are super inexpensive and you will probably own all the supplies round your house.

DIY 1: Melting Ghost Hot Chocolate
At this time of year and hot chocolate is the perfect way to top off a pamper night. For Halloween though you can't just do your typical hot chocolate, so a cute melting ghost makes a cute touch while adding a bit of Halloween spirit. For this you will just need your regular hot chocolate of your choice, (my favorite is Cadburys) some squirty cream and two chocolate chips. Create a little swirl of cream on top of your hot chocolate and add the chocolate chips as if it was the ghosts eyes. This would be the perfect treat if you are having a pamper night with the girl or by yourself. I think it would look cute with lots of them gathered together.

DIY 2: Black Cat Makeup Look
This year for Halloween, I am going as a black cat. For clothes I am just wearing all black but for my makeup, I am aiming to go quit bold. If you are stuck as what to dress up for Halloween, I hope you get some inspiration from this makeup look. Here are a few options for eyes, lips and a few extras,
Freedom Pro fixing spray - Sets your makeup and makes it last longer
Freedom Pro Lipsticks in Adorn (purple) and Red Wine (red) - Depending on how bold or dark you want your lips to be.
MUA LUXE Velvet Lip laquer in Potency - Darkest lip colour ever, but still would look amazing with almost any Halloween costume.
Revlon Nail Polish in Black Star - Perfect colour suited to Halloween.
Collection Extreme Liquid Eyeliner - An essential if you are going as a cat like me.
The Body Shop Black Coal Eyeliner - Easier to control or to outline before using liquid.
Collection Divine Waterproof Mascara - Just in case the weather in England gets any worse, but if you live somewhere warm this may not be needed.
Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner - Another inexpensive option, but gives a thicker line.
Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Permanent Taupe - The perfect could to exaggerate the cat liner look.
MUA Eyeliner in Snow White - Adds highlights to the eye (inner corner and brow bone).
Sleek Au Natural Eye Shadow Palette - Has lots of neutral colours that would easily match a cat look. Certain grey shades could also work as a contour shade.

DIY 3: Colored Lanterns (aimed to look like pumpkins but failed)
This is a great touch if you are decorating the house for Halloween (or just autumn in general) and don't want to spend loads on decorations. All you need is card (colour of your choice), scissors, ruler, pencil, stapler and a LED light (mine are from Next) all the other supplies you could easily buy from Poundland or Home Bargains but you probably already own them. Each lantern you do can be a different colour and widths.
1. Cut strips of card of your choice. I found that six strips in total worked best. Don't forget you can change width and colour of card as much as you want, I just went simple as an example.
2. Gather all pieces together around equally in a circle for it to look a bit like a star and staple them so all pieces are included.
3. Do the same to the other side and it should a bit like a oval.
4. Add in the switched on LED light.
5. Turn off all the lights and relax.

I hope you enjoyed this. I do apologize as I am not the best at DIY's but let me know if this has actually helped. Don't forget to read Bobo's post as she is so lovely. Have a great day!
